Banco Rio de Janeiro of Brazil Cultural Center (CCBBs River) presents, from 30 May, exposure Salvador Dalí. The show invites the audience to dive for a dreamlike world, provocative and imaginative, consisting 150 parts - 29 paintings, 80 drawings and prints, as well as documents and photos - welcome collectors of the main institutions of the artist, the Foundation Gala-Salvador Dalí (Figueres), the Museu Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (Madrid) and the Salvador Dalí Museum (Florida). Organised by Instituto Tomie Ohtake, the exhibition presents the production of Dalí since years 1920 until his last works, giving visitors a clear understanding of its evolution, not only technical, but their influence, thematic resources, ideological references and symbolism.
The show will occupy nearly 1.000 m² on the first floor of CCBBs and will trace the artist's path passing through various stages of their production. Is it possible to see the screens of the period of his training as a painter - "Portrait del padre y en Es Llaner", of 1920, and the "Self-portrait Cubist", of 23. A fase surrealista, that gave worldwide fame to the Catalan, will be portrayed on screens that show his paranoiac-critical method of interpreting reality, very significant works as "El sentimiento of velocidad" (1931), "Imperial monument to the child-woman" (1929), "Figure and Drapery in a Landscape" (1935) e 'Paisaje Pagano medio " (1937).
"We want to show the Dali surrealist, but also one that anticipates your time, that is audacious, defending the freedom of the artist's imagination in creating their own. At the same time, show walks through artistic and personal journey of Salvador Dalí ", Montse Aguer explains, curator and director of the Center for Studies Dalinianos Foundation Gala-Salvador Dalí. "After the visit, everyone understands its importance as an artist, not only in surrealism, but in art history. This means an important link with contemporary art, Dalí as part of a deep understanding and respect for tradition ", concludes.
To bring the collection to the Tomie Ohtake Institute Brazil participated in a long negotiation with the museums involved. "Five years many attempts and conversations with the owners of the great collections of Dalí were, to realize the exhibition of the artist in Brazil, first with paintings, and greater concentration in the Surrealist phase ", revela Ricardo Ohtake, president of the institution.
The exhibition is organized by the Instituto Tomie Ohtake in partnership with the Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil, the Foundation Gala-Salvador Dalí, the Museu Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, and the Salvador Dalí Museum. Salvador Dalí will be showing at Rio CCBBs until 22 September and then heads to Sao Paulo, which will be held at Instituto Tomie Ohtake between October and December.
